    My Dear A
Ins No 7 to Sally, I forgot to put the
enclosed slip, written on 7th day. Nothing new on the
carpet. No visitors yesterday. Julia went to Beaker's
Island, to help look after the soldiers, and I went to
church under my waistcoat. Weather hottish but not
rampant. Wind east this morning, cloudy & salty with
dim sun at times. Thermo about 83 [degrees]. I hope you are
now in possession of the goods, which, according to my
calculations, must have arrived about noon or 3 PM
yesterday. We have no letters from any source to-day. Sally's
already [?], was own last from you. DOnt forget to
say if you received papers. I have sent two each day, for three
    days including this date.

Mailed to-day. Tribune, Times & Post. All information
exhausted. We hope to hear particulars how you
are getting along, by to morrow's mail.

    [Affectionately]
    J.S.G.
