Images of May Day

    Item Description
    Description

A scrapbook page with three clipped images pasted onto it. The images, clipped from a newspaper or other printed publication, appear to be photographs but may contain some enhancement with a pen to darken lines. Front, upper-left: captioned "Ye Daunce of ye Chimney Sweeps," students in loose-fitted costumes stand in a group holding brooms. Front, upper-right: captioned "Masque of Queenes," five women in elaborate costumes, possibly meant to portray queens from different historic times and places, stand facing towards the camera. Front, lower: captioned "The Heralds 'gorgeously arrayed in blue and gold,'" six students stand, possibly in the cloisters of Thomas Library, in a formation of two columns, wearing costumes and playing bugles.
